Coping with Loss Reveal Trailer Meet Hotline Miami

In 2008, Liam Neeson reinvented himself as an action star in Taken, a film about a former CIA officer who goes to great lengths to rescue his kidnapped teenage daughter. The film appears to be one of the main inspirations for Aloof Penguin’s upcoming game Tackle for Loss. But the game’s unsung hero has his own unique set of skills that he can unleash on those who dare kidnap his daughter in the trailer for Tackle for Loss.

Another inspiration for the game appears to be chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a neurological disorder commonly associated with concussions suffered by American professional sports players, particularly football players. The protagonist in Tackle for Loss is aware of his condition and the violence it entails. There’s also a bit of tragedy to his story, as he admits to not remembering his daughter’s name. All he knew was that he loved her and no matter how many bad guys he had to crush, he would get her back.

Tackle for Loss has a very retro visual style, reminiscent of Hotline Miami. The game does include some strategy, allowing players to unlock moves and upgrade their attacks as the story progresses. Along the way, players will discover the truth behind their daughter’s kidnapping and uncover a deeper conspiracy related to the underworld that kidnapped her.

German game developer Daniel Wichterich personally created Tackle for Loss for his company In Different Penguin. The game currently doesn’t have a release date, but it’s available On Steam Wishlist.
